EGR Responsible Development Inc. formed in response to the Gaslight Investor’s CONCEPT PLAN which very few residents had heard of, much less known the details of, when our City Commission held a community hearing back in February of 2025. Over 250 residents attended that forum because a concerned citizen took the initiative to spread the word. Had that not happened, very few residents would have learned any details of the project. The vast majority of input from residents wanted the land developed but wanted the plan scaled way back.

Since then our mission has been to spread the word and advocate for responsible development in Gaslight Village. Over months, a large group of residents have joined the call for a development that enhances the charm and walkability of the Gaslight Village, not overwhelms it. We believe that:

• The development process should be transparent and include input from all residents.

• There is a limit to the capacity of residences and commercial space that Gaslight Village can accommodate. This plan is too big for the limited space.

• Traffic safety and parking are already a problem that need to be solved instead of exacerbated. A comprehensive Traffic Impact Study should come BEFORE concept plan approval.

• The plan should recognize that Gaslight Village has permanent, limited road access shared with the high school, middle school, library, yacht club, and the surrounding neighborhoods.

• Our community treasures its natural environment. A significant increase in the number of residents and visitors will adversely impact the wildlife, water quality, and trails we value.
